I assume this is what happened. They had to have a lower frame rate for the 4K and to not damage any expensive camera that can go 100k frames they also talked about how it the camera rig was going the fastest it could without breaking the arm. Plus all of the light needed to show the actual footage would be crazy.

I'm two years too late, just doing a binge watch of the super slow show, and I have to say, this is becoming boring with "super slow" part being ignored for the "show" aspect. It's too fast! It was simply ice, then snow. 1000 fps is not good enough.

You should make giant jello molds of yourselves with like marshmallow chunks and strawberries and what not. So when you blow it up, it actually looks like innards flying. Must be red jello, tho.

4:00 We'll, Dan, as Gav's ice sculpture spent more time in the light, something counterintuitive happened. The outer shell melted and refroze in really tiny bits all over the outside of it. When you pushed the boom boom button, it has reinforced itself which is why it kept together in lumpy chunks instead of momentary snowmanness. Thank you for coming to my headshop.
